If you regularly read my blog posts, or have just read one, you know I typically write about personal topics. We all work plenty, so I typically tend to stay away from work-related items. However, for this blog I needed to make an exception.
About four months ago, we got word that the Brenham Clinic was looking to join a different healthcare organization. As your administrative team discussed the possibility of this clinic joining our family, it was a no-brainer. This opportunity would enable us to align healthcare in the Brenham community (and alignment happens to be one of our strategies).
The actual decision was the easy part. The work that needed to be done was the mountain that needed to be conquered. What typically would take 6-7 months to complete would need to be done in 75 days. If you break it down, 25,000 patient charts would need to be moved to our electronic medical record, this electronic medical record software, imaging software, and lab interface software would all need to be installed, over 100 staff and more than 20 providers would need to be onboarded, and this was just the beginning. The Brenham community relied on us to continue to offer the same great care.
September 17 would be the new providers' first day of care. For the 75 days leading up to this, I was honored to see our team from Dallas to Temple to Austin to College Station to Brenham come together and demonstrate our value: "We are in it together."
Any time you bring on a new member to our team, you wonder if they will truly align to our culture. I was honored to have the opportunity to speak at the Brenham Clinic’s orientation. I knew the answer to that cultural alignment question when I kept hearing them ask "What can we do to help?".
I believe if you choose healthcare as your occupation, whether you are answering the phone to delivering treatment, it is because you have a calling to serve. It was great to witness this calling to serve in our new Brenham Clinic providers and staff.
